KHYBER: The Tehreek Mutasereen Tirah (TMT) on Wednesday announced the cancellation of its planned protest outside the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Peshawar after officials promised to meet the demands of displaced persons.
TMT spokesman Suhbat Khan told reporters in Bara that officials agreed to accept their demands, while a 36-member delegation would go to Tirah on Sept 9 to assess the damage caused to infrastructure and properties.
Mr Khan said that they had planned to stage a protest outside the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Sept 3 (today) to press the government to accept their demands.
However, he said authorities promised to restore all the blocked mobile SIMs of the displaced families and provide the funds promised against these SIM cards.
He said the authorities also promised to provide the displaced persons with Rs50,000 allowance per month for six months and to pay the amounts incurred by the displaced families while transporting their goods and families.
