RAWALPINDI: A district and sessions court on Wednesday sent husband of digital media executive Hina Javed and their domestic worker to jail on judicial remand after police completed their physical custody in the murder case.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Qasim Javed passed the order after the two suspects, Faisal Asghar and Zeeshan, were produced before the court on completion of their four-day physical remand.
During the hearing, police requested judicial remand of both suspects, saying their further custody was no longer required for investigation. The court accepted the request and directed that they be sent to jail.
Police allege that Asghar killed his wife with the assistance of Zeeshan. According to police sources, Zeeshan confessed during interrogation that he strangled Hina during an altercation between the couple over a marital dispute.
The sources said Zeeshan told investigators that Hina attempted to flee during the altercation, but he and Asghar allegedly restrained her.
Hina was found dead at her residence in Rawalpindi’s Lalkurti area on August 20. Her body was found tied to a shower in the bathroom.
Police sources said Hina’s father-in-law had initially informed police that thieves had entered the house. When police reached the residence, they found Hina’s body in the bathroom.
On August 29, the court had extended the physical remand of both suspects by four days to facilitate further investigation.
