Drive against air pollution: Five brick kilns sealed for flouting SOPs in Sargodha

SARGODHA: As part of the Punjab government’s anti-smog operations, a team of the environment department demolished five brick kilns over alleged violations of the environmental protocols in Sillianwali tehsil.

The action was taken by local environment protection department officials, on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry.

During a raid, led by EPD Deputy Director Muhammad Rana, five brick kilns were found violating the prescribed environmental SOPs, requiring use of Zigzag technology to curb hazardous emissions.

On the directions of the deputy director, the team sealed the kilns.

He said that strict implementation of environmental laws is being ensured to curb air pollution and provide a clean environment to the citizens.

He added that indiscriminate action will continue against the violators.

MAN DIES: A man died on Monday after a speeding dumper truck hit the motorcycle he was riding near 84 Adda Pump area in Sargodha.

According to Rescue 1122 sources, Qamar Hayat (45), a resident of Bahk Mekan village, was on a motorcycle when it was hit by a speeding dumper truck. He was critically injured and died instantly.

A Rescue 1122 team called to the scene shifted the body to the Dr Faisal Masood Teaching DHQ Hospital. Police are investigating.

SACKED: A food inspector deputed on Dajil check post was sacked from service for his involvement in preparing fake permits used for smuggling a large quantity of wheat from Punjab to KP.

As per officials, the food inspector, Nadeem Shehzad, was caught red handed by an Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) team while facilitating smuggling of a huge quantity of wheat through Dajil check post, a link between KP and Punjab in Bhakkar district.

The ACE raid was supervised by assistant commissioner concerned.

Later, the food inspector was dismissed from service.
