MULTAN: A 38-year-old female patient from Muzaffargarh and a 20-year-old young man have tested positive for mpox, formerly known as monkeypox, at the Nishtar Hospital, official sources confirmed on Monday.

The sources informed that both patients who tested positive for mpox had no travel history and they were admitted to the hospital four days ago. They had rashes on their bodies.

The hospital authorities said the patients’ samples were sent to the Institute of Public Health, Lahore, and the test reports confirmed that they were carrying the virus. The patients have been isolated and are receiving treatment as per protocols while health authorities are monitoring the situation closely.
