RAWALPINDI: Divisional administration on Thursday directed the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to ensure round-the-clock availability and effective field monitoring of private housing societies and take action against violations of building bylaws.

Commissioner Salman Ghani directed all RDA directorates to perform their duties diligently and remain available round the clock to ensure a timely response to public issues and matters falling within their respective jurisdictions.

He directed the concerned officials to conduct daily field visits to private housing schemes, buildings and under-construction buildings and personally monitor the performance and activities of field teams.

He emphasised that the performance of inspection teams should be regularly reviewed to ensure that they are carrying out their assigned responsibilities properly, efficiently and effectively. He further directed that a comprehensive mechanism for continuous monitoring of field teams be developed, with clear responsibility and accountability at every level.

He made it clear that negligence, absence from the field or failure to perform assigned duties would not be tolerated. The commissioner also directed officers to ensure strict compliance with approved plans, building regulations and all other applicable laws and rules.

Any violation identified during field inspections should be dealt with promptly and strictly in accordance with the law. He directed the concerned directorates to maintain proper records of field inspections and submit regular reports regarding inspections conducted, violations identified and action taken.

He said effective monitoring and timely reporting would help ensure transparency, strengthen accountability and improve the overall performance of the authority’s field operations.

He stressed the need for improved inter-directorate coordination, strengthened field monitoring and effective public service delivery, directing all concerned officers to remain proactive in addressing public issues and regulatory matters.

The commissioner emphasised that the RDA’s regulatory, monitoring and enforcement responsibilities must be carried out with professionalism, transparency, efficiency and a strong sense of public responsibility.
