PESHAWAR: Four persons, who were allegedly involved in gang-rape of two wives of a Peshawar resident, were killed in firing by their accomplices on Thursday night, police claimed on Friday.
“Four persons, allegedly involved in a gang rape within the jurisdiction of Rehman Baba police station, died after their accomplices opened fire,” Capital City Police Officer Dr Mian Saeed Ahmad told Dawn.
He claimed that the accused persons were being transported towards the crime scene when the police party came under attack, adding that all four were killed by firing from their associates.
The four accused were arrested for allegedly gang-raping two women at gunpoint on the outskirts of the provincial capital on Sept 6.
Addressing a news conference on Wednesday, Peshawar’s SSP Operations Farhan Khan said that four accused persons barged into a house at around 2am, tied the house owner, a daily wager, along with his 11-year-old daughter and eight-year-old son, with a rope inside a room, and gang-raped his two wives, one 22-year-old and another 27-year-old.
The SSP said that four different teams formed to probe the case had arrested all the accused. He said that two cell phones, which the accused took from the women, along with the arms used in the offence, had also been recovered.
