BANNU: Two civilians, including a woman, were martyred and two others injured in a quadcopter attack allegedly carried out by terrorists in the Wazir subdivision of Bannu district on Monday.

According to the police, following the incident, a joint operation against terrorists was launched under the supervision of district police officer Captain retired Mohammad Furqan Bilal.

Counter-Terrorism Department’s Bannu region SP Fazal Waheed Khan, Elite Force and CTD personnel and members of a peace committee took part in the operation.

Police said the area was cordoned off before the operation was conducted. An exchange of fire between the police and terrorists also took place during the operation.

According to police, a terrorist was killed during the action, and his body was recovered. Police also claimed that several other terrorists were reportedly killed or seriously wounded.

Police said terrorists managed to carry away their dead and wounded accomplices by taking advantage of the difficult mountainous terrain.

A search and clearance operation continued in the area.

Police said action against terrorists targeting civilians would continue with full force and determination.

Police and other security forces remain on high alert to ensure the safety of citizens and maintain law and order in the district.
