GUJRAT: A 17-year-old boy was attacked and injured by a lion that was being kept by a businessman at his outhouse at Thapla locality of Kharian city.

Reports said that Zakariya Butt (17) of Sattarpura, Kharian, was brought to the emergency of Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Kharian, on Thursday in an injured condition.

Initially, it was reported to be a case of dog bite. He was referred to the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital (ABSTH) where he said that he got injured by a lion at the outhouse where he went along with a friend to watch the lions.

Butt was given treatment at the hospital and his condition was said to be out of danger.

A wildlife department team was dispatched to the outhouse where the lions were being kept. It took away the lions and lodged a police case against their owner.

Saddar Kharian police registered a case against the owner of the outhouse under sections of the PPC and Punjab Wildlife (Protection, Preservation, Conservation and Management Act (1974).

UoG: The Architecture Department of the University of Gujrat (UoG) hosted a lecture on “Architects in Public Service: Role and Responsibilities of Architects in Communication & Works (C&W) Department of the Punjab Government”.

The session aimed to highlight innovation in public works and industry. Assistant Director Danish Ahsan briefed the students on the C&W Department’s structure, responsibilities and modern methods of completing public projects, underscoring milestones achieved through technology.

Dr Ayesha Anwar chaired the session moderated by Alina Haider. The guests included Dr Shoaib, Humayun Tariq of Prime Aluminium Industries and architect Iza.

Humayun Tariq presented a documentary on aluminium manufacturing in Pakistan, showcasing innovative practices and forwardlooking industrial design.
