KHYBER: On the call of their chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, scores of Jamaat-i-Islami workers started their ‘Super Long March’ against the petroleum levy towards Islamabad from the historic Bab-i- Khyber in Jamrud on Sunday.

JI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa emir Abdul Wasay led the march after a brief demonstration at the Bab-i-Khyber. He was also accompanied by former MPAs and local leaders.

They said excessive taxes, including the petroleum levy, were an additional and unjust financial burden on already inflation-stricken people.

Demanding the immediate withdrawal of all taxes, they asked the federal government to step down for ‘failing’ to meet people’s expectations.

The participants would spend the night in Bara and would proceed to Peshawar on Monday (today) prior to their onward journey to Islamabad.
