ISLAMABAD: As three marches are expected to reach the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi in the coming days, hospitals in the federal capital have been put on high alert.

According to documents, to meet any untoward situation during the upcoming events in the Islamabad Capital Territory, all assistant executive directors (AEDs), specialists, the blood bank in-charge, deputy chief nursing superintendent, security officers and storekeepers have been directed not to leave the station and remain accessible and available to reach the hospital immediately in case of an emergency or a call from the hospitals.

Blood bank officers have been advised to keep reserves of at least 100 bags of blood.

The transport supervisor has been directed to keep all ambulances, along with their drivers, functional and ready.

The document stated, “AED (Medical Stores) will ensure sufficient medical store supply in the Casualty/Wards. AED (General Stores) will ensure the availability of sufficient store items in the emergency/Wards. Incharge Oxygen will ensure sufficient stock of Gases and remain available in the hospital.”

“The Incharge Emergency Department is advised to stay on high alert in the Emergency Department with immediate effect and till further orders to meet any emergency situation and to reserve 10 beds on the male side and 10 beds on the female side in the emergency department. Incharge Officer Ward is advised to reserve two rooms in Officer Ward to meet any emergency situation,” it stated.

Staff have further been informed that the hospitals will remain on high alert until Sept 30, 2026.
