Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein has held talks with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, on the sidelines of the UNGA, Al Jazeera reports.
In a post on X, Hussein has said indirect communications are currently under way between Tehran and Washington, as are efforts aimed at “de-escalation and reopening the Strait of Hormuz to navigational traffic”.
“Dialogue and diplomacy remain the most effective path to contain tensions and prevent their escalation, and regional security and freedom of navigation require regional cooperation and responsible dialogue among the concerned parties,” he has affirmed.
