PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has notified monetisation of transport allowance for judicial officers in the province in line with the decision of the National Judicial Policy Making Committee (NJPMC).

A notification was issued by the KP finance department stating that in pursuance of the decision of the provincial cabinet taken in its meeting on August 28, 2026, the department has notified the monetisation of transport allowance for the judicial officers (cadre/ex-cadre) in the province with effect from October 1, 2026.

According to the notification, a district and sessions judge (BS-21) will receive a monetisation amount to the tune of Rs195,000 per month; additional district and sessions judge (BS-20) will receive Rs175,000 per month; senior civil judge (BS-19) will receive Rs150,000 per month; and, a civil judge (BS-18) will receive Rs100,000 per month.

The NJPMC, in its meeting chaired by the chief justice of Pakistan, had given approval to a package of recommendations on February 11, 2026.

The approved recommendations included uniform rates of monetisation allowance for judicial officers throughout Pakistan.

In the light of those recommendations, the Peshawar High Court had initiated two summaries simultaneously on March 4, 2026, for consideration and approval by the KP government.

One of the summaries related to monetisation of transport facilities to the judicial officers of the district judiciary across the province, whereas the other summary is related to uniformity in pay and allowances of the judicial officers.

The notification also includes terms and conditions for the monetisation allowance in lieu of official vehicles, POL, maintenance and repair, etc. while also providing a mechanism for retention of existing drivers and disposal of official vehicles on depreciated value.
