Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan says the kingdom supports the efforts of Pakistan and Qatar to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East.

Addressing the UN General Assembly, Riyadh’s top diplomat notes that efforts to restore security in the region and build sustainable relations “cannot be based on domination, influence or exploitation of crises; rather, they must be founded on mutual respect, common interests, good neighbourliness, respect for the sovereignty of states and full compliance with international law”.

“This would contribute to restoring stability to the region, creating conditions conducive to dialogue and diplomacy,” he says. “We stress the importance of ensuring that any arrangements on regional security must be comprehensive, effective and sustainable. We must address the root cause of threats and instability.”
