LAHORE: Azan Ahmed has been named as captain of the Pakistan U-17 squad for a bilateral home series against their Sri Lankan counterparts in Multan next month.

The series comprises one three-day match and five one-day games, all of which will be played at the Multan Cricket Stadium from Oct 9 to 24.

The Sri Lanka squad will arrive in Multan on Oct 5.

Azan represented Rawalpindi in the National U-17 Cup held earlier this year.

The leg-spinner took 36 wickets in eight two-day matches with 4-28 his best figures in an innings during the event. He also led his side to the title as Rawalpindi beat Abbottabad by 125 runs in the final at the Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad from May 11-13.

Following the said event, 48 players were called up for the U-17 Skills Development Camp which was held in Faisalabad from July 30.

From those players, 30 were shortlisted for the second phase of the camp.

All 16 players alongside four reserve players selected for the Sri Lanka series had featured in the National U-17 Cup.

Squad: Azan Ahmed (captain), Abdullah Ahmed Butt, Arsalan Hassan (wicket-keeper), Daud Tauqeer Rana, Fahad Iqbal, Hamid Raza, Hamza Abbas Baloch, Hassan Ali, Mohammad Essa Baloch, Mohammad Ihsaan, Mohammad Naveed, Mohammad Saim, Mohammad Yaqoob, Mohammad Yousuf, Sher Wali Khan, Sudais Ahmed.

Reserve players: Ammar Khan, Imad Ali Shah, Nafees Akhtar, Saqib Khan.

Itinerary: Oct 9-11: Three-day match; Oct 15: First one-dayer; Oct 17: Second one-dayer; Oct 19: Third one-dayer; Oct 21: Fourth one-dayer; Oct 24: Fifth one-dayer.
