Diss Drama?
Last year, Shae Gill, the singer with a velvety voice, came out with a track titled ‘Insecurity’. It was liked by all and sundry. Recently, actress Hania Aamir forayed into the world of music with a song titled ‘Pablo’. Many believe the track’s content and style was inspired by Shae G’s number. Shae G then posted a video on social media with an acoustic version of ‘Insecurity’ to mark the anniversary of the song. Netizens thought she was trying to diss Hania A. Shae G promptly replied, “I don’t understand how that equals a diss? I can’t explain myself in every comment. Jisay gana enjoy karna hai karay, jisay drama banana hai banaye [whoever wants to enjoy the song can enjoy it, whoever wants to create drama can do that].” Well, to be honest, we like having a bit of drama now and then.
The 98 Percent Rule
Actress and model Sunita Marshall recently highlighted an extremely important issue. She says 98 percent of men [in the Subcontinent] mock their wives in front of other people. She thinks that this happens because of the way they are conditioned in our society to view women as lesser beings. We think Sunita M makes a valid point. It is indeed something that needs to be rectified and has no place in contemporary times. However, we do wonder: where did she come up with the figure 98 percent… Does she have someone working for her as a data gatherer?
Runway Romance?
Hollywood hottie Dakota Johnson seems to have another — or shall we say — a new man in her life. We are referring to rapper MGK (Machine Gun Kelly) in this case. Not too long ago, the two were seen together in New York. However, at the time, gossipmongers didn’t attach much importance to them walking side by side. On September 22, however, things took a wee bit of a serious turn when MGK, whose real name is Colson Baker, walked the runway at Milan Fashion Week while Dakota J sat in the front row, watching him do what a model is supposed to do, with starry eyes. For the two of them, things appear to be moving machine-gun fast on the romantic front, though neither has confirmed anything.
Footie King
The teaser and trailer for Shah Rukh Khan’s eagerly awaited film King didn’t hit social media as soon as people expected. The king of Bollywood finally explained why. While interacting with fans on X, he informed them, “Had a few injuries while shooting, so had to start, stop many times, but now all broken is fixed and nearly all done, so all good. Taking time to put our best foot forward so you all enjoy it and feel proud and happy with it.” We’re glad that SRK and his team have decided to put their best foot forward. Certainly beats putting a foot in the mouth.
Spidey’s Super Haul
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is proving to be a mega money-making venture for Marvel Studios. The film, starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, has surpassed Star Wars: The Force Awakens in North American box-office history. It has earned $936.773 million in the span of 47 days in theatres, whereas Star Wars: The Force Awakens has raked in $936.662 million since its release in 2015. It’s also become the third highest grossing film of all time, with a haul of $2.48 billion worldwide. That is huge! Especially given the fact that it’s not even the best Spider-Man movie made.
Tilly Goes Rogue
On September 18, something really strange happened on the popular YouTube show Piers Morgan Uncensored. The host, Piers Morgan, invited British actor Tom Conti and AI-generated actress Tilly Norwood, who was there to plug her film, Misaligned. During the programme, Tom C asked Tilly N whether the other actors who worked with her in the movie were also AI-generated. She didn’t get the query and said all writers, directors and editors involved in the project were human. The British actor had to repeat his question. Things took a weird turn when Tilly N suddenly started speaking Chinese. It confused everyone. After a while, Piers M asked why she had switched languages. She apologised and reasoned it was a “little hiccup” and that sometimes her “wires” get crossed. Hmmm… As long as that’s the worst and it takes some time for AI to go Terminator on us.
