KHYBER: Representatives of Khugakhel subsection of Shinwari tribe in Landi Kotal have demanded of the Pakistan Land Port Authority (PLPA) and National Logistic Corporation (NLC) to resolve the issue of land acquired for expansion in the Torkham border customs terminal.

Addressing a press conference at Landi Kotal Press Club on Sunday, Khugakhel representatives, Mufti Ejaz, Miraj Uddin, Saadullah Khan, Qari Nazeem Gul and Abdur Raziq alleged that as many as 160 kanals of the jointly owned land had been unlawfully included outside the customs terminal without taking them into confidence.

They said that the PLPA and NLC authorities had also unlawfully fenced off the allegedly acquired land, preventing local residents from entering the disputed plot. The Khugakhel representatives strongly condemned the move.

They urged the authorities concerned to take all stakeholders into confidence and find an amicable solution to the issue of land acquisition, instead of forcibly depriving local residents of their legitimate property rights.
