AJK PM to review Bhimber development
• Officials prepare security, logistics for premier’s first official visit
• Speaker unveils 100-day uplift plan
MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Iftikhar Gillani will make his first official visit to Bhimber today (Monday) to review ongoing regional development and public welfare infrastructure projects.
At the invitation of AJK Legislative Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Tariq Farooq, AJK PM Gillani will inspect the under-construction Daanish School and the Chinar Free Dialysis Centre at the district headquarters hospital.
The prime minister will receive a briefing on the construction progress of the Daanish School, which authorities described as a state-of-the-art facility.
At the hospital, he will review available patient facilities and receive a briefing on healthcare requirements and challenges in the district.
During a preparatory meeting held in Bhimber, Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Muhammad Tariq and other officials briefed Mr Farooq on security, traffic and other arrangements for the visit.
Mr Farooq said development activity in Bhimber will be revived under the government’s 100-day programme, focusing on education, healthcare, public welfare schemes, infrastructure, tourism and urban services.
“The programme includes the Green Bus Service, Suthra Kashmir initiative, upgrading of health facilities, construction of government offices, promotion of tourism and improvement of the Baba Shadi Shaheed Road,” he said.
The speaker added that the Technical College in Bhimber will be made fully functional to provide technical education and employment opportunities to youth.
To address traffic and transport problems in Bhimber city, short-, medium- and long-term measures will be taken, including the relocation of transport stands outside the city limits, Mr Farooq said.
He said he has written to PM Shehbaz to seek an alternative route for residents living near the Daanish School, adding that their concerns would be addressed.
Claiming that projects of collective public interest had seen little progress over the past five years, Mr Farooq said the development process in the district will resume from where it had stalled.
