MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Iftikhar Gillani has directed the Information Technology (IT) Board to expedite the operationalisation of the government’s official digital portal to enable people to access government services online.
Presiding over a meeting on Tuesday to review progress on the portal, Mr Gillani said the government was moving towards modern, transparent and accessible digital services. He directed officials to utilise the experience and expertise of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) to strengthen digital governance in Azad Kashmir.
IT department officials briefed the meeting on the establishment of the portal, progress made so far and plans to provide government services online. Secretary to Prime Minister Sardar Adnan Khurshid, Secretary IT and Information Rashid Hanif, Additional Director General PITB Mohammad Kashif Farooq, Programme Manager Noreen Anwar and Waqar Ali attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, speaking to a representative delegation from Leepa Valley, Mr Gillani reassured the delegation that development projects for the area would be included in the Annual Development Programme (ADP).
The delegation, led by a PML-N divisional leader, apprised the prime minister of issues confronting residents of Leepa Valley, located some 100 kilometres southeast of Muzaffarabad.
Mr Gillani said tree plantation in Leepa and other parts of the state was among the government’s priorities and assured the delegation of steps to improve basic services and address public grievances. The delegation thanked him for his assistance to the victims of the recent blaze in Kappa Galli Bazaar.
Talking to another delegation from the Lachhrat constituency, led by former minister Chaudhry Shahzad Mahmood, Mr Gillani said recruitment to government institutions would be carried out strictly on merit under the Third Party Recruitment Act.
The delegation apprised him of issues faced by residents of the constituency and invited him to visit the area, which he accepted.
Prime Minister Gillani said the government would focus on improving health and education services, infrastructure and employment opportunities across all constituencies.
