Brent crude jumped more than three percent after Donald Trump rejected an Iranian offer of a seven-day truce that Tehran said would see it reopen the Strait of Hormuz, AFP reports.
The contract climbed 3.1 per cent to $107.51 in afternoon Asian trade, while West Texas Intermediate climbed 2.1pc to $94.32, putting fresh upward pressure on inflation.
