LARKANA: Leaders and members of the Pakistan Paramedical Staff Association, Chandka Medical College Hospital Unit, boycotted the OPDs of all four government hospitals on Tuesday in protest against the murder of a senior operating theatre technician.

They staged a sit-in outside the City OPD, where they raised slogans against lawlessness and a surge in crime in the district. They also held a demonstration and sit-in at the main gate of Jinnah Bagh.

The technician, Fida Hussain, 30, son of Mohammad Bakhsh Buledi, was shot dead by two assailants riding a motorcycle along Raza Shah Kabir Road, within the limits of the Civil Line police station while he was on his way to the hospital by his motorbike.

The victim was a resident of the Nishtar Road area.

Larkana SSP Azhar Khan said that the deceased had recently returned to work after seven days’ leave.

The SSP added that the postmortem examination, a review of CCTV footage and collection of witnesses’ statements were underway.

No case was registered nor was anyone arrested till late in the evening.
