MUZAFFARABAD: The Council of Azad Kashmir Ministers is understood to have recently made a fresh allocation of Rs three and a half lakhs for the development plans. The amount is believed to be in addition to the budgeted sum of Rs 10 lakhs to be spent on carrying out development schemes. The fresh allocation has got to be utilised before the close of the current financial year.
It is learned that the Government has approved blue prints of about 16 development plans. Spade work has already been taken in hand in certain projects. The approved plans it is learned, mainly envisage construction of new highways and reclamation of waste land through extended and better irrigational projects.
The principal road scheme in Kishanaganga Valley is likely to cost Rs one lakh while the Nail Nullah scheme and the Hajira Ranger Irrigation Scheme are likely to cost Rs one lakh and Rs 50,000 respectively. Besides these major schemes, out of the fresh allocation a few thousand will be spent on development of fisheries, soil conservation, silk industry and nurseries. — News agencies
