KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that University Road was among Karachi’s important thoroughfares and all measures were being taken to complete ongoing work and restore traffic flow.

He said this while talking to journalists during a visit to the Karachi Press Club on the invitation of its office-bearers on Wednesday.

To a question about the deteriorating condition of University Road due to the construction of Bus Rapid Transit Red Line project, he said that commercial traffic flow had almost been restored on the thoroughfare.

He said the Mosamiyat flyover on University Road would be opened in two days, urging avoidance of unverified information and fake news.

To another question about reports of a meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, he said some journalists were running reports on the basis of sources, but the meeting had not been confirmed and no official photograph or statement had been issued.

He said that steps were being taken to bring foreign investment and take the country forward on the path of development.

“Everyone will have to play their role together. If Pakistan exists, everything exists,” he said, adding that negative thinking would have to be eliminated and positive attitudes promoted.

The senior minister said that enemies of Pakistan were making efforts to fuel unrest and terrorism and the entire nation would have to unite with strong resolve against terrorism for development, stability and security.
