LAHORE: Punjab Additional Chief Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahoo on Wednesday inaugurated the renovated and upgraded Abdullah Khan Sumbal Cricket Stadium in Wahdat Colony.
An ACS spokesman said the renovation had significantly enhanced sport facilities at the ground. Two new ‘international-level’ cricket pitches have been developed, while three new practice pitches equipped with nets have also been constructed for players training.
The spokesman said a badminton court and a jogging track had also been established at the stadium for players and citizens. The boundary wall has been repaired and renovated, while the ground level has also been evened out. New grass has been planted in areas devoid of grass. The main gate of Wahdat Colony has also been renovated.
During the inauguration, Mr Sahoo directed that the boundary wall of the ground be further raised, regular grass cutting and an effective water supply system be ensured.He directed that a master plan be prepared to transform the ground into a complete sports complex..
OVERCHARGING: The Punjab Food Safety and Consumer Protection Department’s price control magistrates conducted inspections at 432,465 locations across the province from Sept 21 to 27, imposed fine of Rs113.37 million and arrested 341 people during a crackdown against overcharging and violations of official prices of essential commodities.
Department Secretary Dr Kiran Khurshid said a total of 73 cases were registered, 341 people arrested and 25 business establishments sealed for violations.
