Pakistan wants to extend its complete cooperation in bringing peace and stability in Afghanistan and no one should be allowed to ruin the cordial relations between the two countries by indulging in the blame game, National Security Adviser (NSA) Nasser Janjua informed Britain's Special Representative on Afghanistan and Pakistan, Owen Jenkin, on Tuesday.
Jenkin and High Commissioner Thomas Drew had called on Janjua to discuss the various aspects of the prevailing situation as well as a way forward to bring peace and stability in the country as well as the region, read a statement issued after the meeting.
Janjua expressed satisfaction over the recent positive developments between Pakistan and Afghanistan and said that Islamabad recognises the prevailing optimism very positively and more so as an opportunity to work together.
"The army chief's visit to Afghanistan and the reciprocal warmth shown by Afghanistan has opened a new door to re-established our cooperative framework to proceed further," he said while appreciating Afghan President Ashraf Ghani for presenting a cordial and cooperative outlook of his country.
"All we need is the positivity and confidence from the governments of Afghanistan and United States. We should not be hurt anymore by blame game. It is not by way of coercion but surely by way of a greater understanding that Pakistan wants to extend full cooperation to help seek peace and stability in Afghanistan," the NSA was quoted as saying.
"We understand that we have a common future with Afghanistan ” he added.
Janjua reiterated that Pakistan and Afghanistan needed to resume and strengthen political, diplomatic, military and intelligence cooperative framework at all levels
He added that Pakistan fully believed in peaceful coexistence with all the neighbouring countries and had always supported every initiative taken to achieve sustainable peace in Afghanistan.
Pakistan is also keen to resolve all disputes with India to take this region on the path of prosperity and development, he remarked.
"We all should work together to seek the closure of the conflict in Afghanistan by political means," he added.
Earlier, the British envoy briefed Janjua about the situation in Afghanistan.
Jenkin was said to have acknowledged and appreciated the efforts and sacrifices Pakistan had rendered for the improvement of the security situation in the region and urged both sides to build on the prevailing positive outlook to further consolidate peace in Afghanistan and ultimately in the whole region.
Jenkin said that the UK is keen to play a constructive role for the stability of the region and it is time to consolidate on this positive environment.
Both sides agreed to work together for the shared objective of peace in the region.
