Sylvester Stallone to direct, produce Creed 2

Sylvester Stallone announced on Instagram that he will be directing and producing boxing sequel Creed 2, starring himself and Michael B. Jordan.

“Looking forward to directing and producing the incredibly talented Michael B Jordan in Creed 2 next year,” Stallone wrote alongside a photo of himself and Jordan.

Creed, released in November 2015, centred around Adonis Creed (Jordan), the son of Rocky series regular Apollo Creed, who enters the boxing world by training with Stallone, who reprised his role as Rocky Balboa.

The film earned $173 million worldwide. Stallone was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and won the Golden Globe in the same category for his return as Rocky. Stallone and Dolph Lundgren, who portrayed Drago, previously hinted on social media that the character would be returning in Creed 2.

Fast and Furious spinoff to release in 2019

Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham’s Fast and Furious spinoff film is set to release in theatres on July 26, 2019. Universal has dated the project after recently delaying the release of Fast and Furious 9, one year to April 10, 2020.

The spinoff film will feature Johnson and Statham reprising their Fast and Furious roles as special agent Hobbs and skilled criminal Deckard Shaw, as they team up on an undisclosed mission.

The pair were last seen in the eighth instalment of the series, Fate of the Furious.

“Fast & Furious is one of Universal’s most beloved properties, and we handle every decision we make surrounding this franchise with great care,” Universal chairman Donna Langley said. “The global brand of Fast & Furious is strong and full of iconic characters, and we look forward to continuing to build on the film that started it all, as well as expanding into different narratives beginning with our first spinoff.”

Jackie Chan confirms Rush Hour 4 is in development

Jackie Chan confirmed the fourth instalment of the Rush Hour series, starring himself and Chris Tucker, is in development.

Chan also revealed several Rush Hour 4 scripts have been turned down over the last seven years before finally reaching an agreement recently.

Rush Hour 3 debuted in theatres nearly a decade ago in 1998 and Chan said it was important for him and Tucker to make the fourth film while they still can.

“It’s not about the money!” Chan said. “It’s about time to make. Otherwise, in Rush Hour 4 we’re all old men. I tell Chris Tucker, ‘Before we get old, please do Rush Hour 4’.”
