KARACHI: A huge fire that broke out in a warehouse of the Karachi Port Trust near the City Railway Station on Wednesday afternoon was put out after hectic efforts, officials said.
Mithadar police station SHO Javed Jalbani said that no one was hurt in the incident.
The blaze erupted at around 1.10pm, which was controlled after one hour of hectic efforts.
Thick smoke emitting from the fire engulfed the entire area causing breathing problems for the nearby residents.
As many as seven fire engines belonging to the Karachi Port Trust, the Pakistan Navy and the KMC Fire Brigade took part in the firefighting effort.
A fire brigade official said that it was a KPT warehouse where old rubber items and other scrap material were kept.
The cause of the fire and estimation of losses could not be made yet.
