Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Maleeha Lodhi tweeted moments ago that she participated in the elections today despite being overseas.
Her tweet upset overseas Pakistanis, who lamented that they cannot vote despite their eagerness to take part in the democratic process.
Lodhi explained that government officials overseas are allowed to exercise their right to vote:
"Election Comm website explains. It’s for those in govt service who are posted abroad or away from where their votes are registered."
