Apple Inc said on Monday it will manufacture its latest iPhone 14 in India, as the tech giant moves some of its production away from China.

The company launched the flagship iPhone 14 at an event earlier this month, where it focused on safety upgrades rather than flashy new technical specifications, with the exception of a new adventure-focused watch.

“The new iPhone 14 lineup introduces groundbreaking new technologies and important safety capabilities. We’re excited to be manufacturing iPhone 14 in India,” Apple said in a statement.

Analysts at J.P. Morgan expect Apple to move about five per cent of iPhone 14 production from late 2022 to India, which is the world’s second-biggest smartphone market after China.

Apple could make one out of four iPhones in India by 2025, JPM analysts said in a note last week.

The world is made in China even the glue used to put cell phones together has to be chemically processed in China. China has learned from Apple and make their own brands majority of them are sold in India too. China makes more money from high tech products than any nation on this planet. According to imf data can be accessed in one google search extreme poverty in india is less than 1% , less than 10% can be considered poor. In percentile terms Bangladesh has 7.2 % extreme poverty and 22% poor and Pakistan has 12.5 %extreme poverty and more than 40% poor .This data is from late 2021 and some countries have improved further and others detiorated further .

China was producing world class phones, how can India with 75% living under poverty line even come close, do they have technology and technical skill, I think highly skilled Chinese workers will be working there too. Anyway I wiling not buy apple 14 as its quality will drop a lot.

@Bilal lahori, FYI, such investment decisions about licensing, opening up local manufacturing plans, or even subcontract to local assembling facilities, equip and train the workers and provide adequate supplies, parts and facilities for packaging and distribution are taken after long deliberations and research. You cannot even assume that Apple decided to go to India, with their most popular product just in the last few months, while IK in Pakistan was busy juggling false cases against him.

That will require 'correctly' teaching advance mathematics and science your kids in primary schools and high schools. If you start now, then it will take another 30 years before those kids are properly trained to pull-off iPhone level of manufacturing and development. Go..and start!!

The manufacturing will be strictly follow Apple's quality requirements, and Apple knows India will provide that quality. Your statements are purely out of jealousy towards India and nothing more.
