LAHORE: The affectees of at least nine housing societies lodged their complaints with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) during an open court here on Friday.

NAB Lahore Director General Amjad Majeed Aulakh listened to the complaints and issued directives in this regard.

The affectees of the Ashrafi Town, Park Lane Housing Society, Khayaban-i-Amin Housing Society, Theme Park View Society, Gwadar City project, Golden Palm Gwadar, Rahim City (Phase-2), State Life Housing Society, Al-Haram Garden, Anwaar Garden and Aashiyana-e-Quaid project filed their complaints at the open court.

The DG said the NAB would review all queries raised by the complainants as per law and merit to redress their complaints.

He also announced launching of a crackdown on illegal housing societies falling under purview of the NAB’s Lahore office.

Addressing the affectees of two Gwadar housing projects, he stated that the matter would be taken up with the authorities of NAB’s Balochistan chapter.

Moreover, he instructed the NAB team to take suitable measures for the affectees of Rahim City (Phase-2), who complained that the society administration was not allowing them construction work on their plots even after making full payments and securing possession.

Mr Aulakh ordered referring the matter of Theme Park View Society to the offices of concerned commissioner, deputy commissioner and Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) for settlement of the issue.

He also announced that the bureau would monitor the proceedings of the matter and keep the affectees informed.

He also ordered measures against the owners of Al-Haram Garden for not releasing ownership documents to the affectees. He also sought a comprehensive report from housing secretary on the prolonged delay in handover of Ashiana-i-Quaid project homes to the affectees.

The DG expressed his resolve to take measure against illegal societies which deprived people of their savings.
