LAHORE: As many as 105 students of 12 different universities on Friday participated in a computing contest held at the University of Home Economics (UHE) on Firday.
UHE Department of Computer Science and Information Technology (CS&IT) organised the Computing Festival 2025, bringing together participants from 12 universities.
The event provided a platform for the varsity students to showcase their skills in various fields of computing and innovation.
The students from leading universities, including LUMS, FAST-Lahore, UET-Lahore, Punjab University (PU), Virtual University (VU), Punjab Tianjin University of Technology (PTUT), Lahore Garrison University (LGU), University of Management and Technology (UMT), University of Central Punjab (UCP), Superior University, Kinnaird College (KC), and NIIT, competed in the festival.
The competition featured four distinct categories -- coding, artificial intelligence (AI), prompts and logo design.
Dr Aniqa, Incharge of CS&IT at UHE and Ms Sameen Fatima, Advisor to the UHE Computing Society, moderated the event.
Speaking on the occasion, UHE Vice Chancellor Prof Faleeha Zahra Kazmi emphasised the importance of such initiatives in fostering innovation and creativity among students.
She said the event not only provided a platform for participants to demonstrate their talent but also served as a collaborative effort to promote technological advancement.
“We are proud to have hosted 12 universities in this festival, making it a hub of innovation and talent exchange,” said Prof Kazmi.
UHE awarded certificates of appreciation to all 105 participants.
The closing ceremony was attended by Dr Tayyaba Sohail, Director of Academics, and Dr Iram Rubab, Director of Student Affairs.
Conference: A two-day international conference on ‘Physics Horizons and Multidisciplinary Sciences’ on Friday started at Emerson University of Multan.
The inaugural session of the conference drew distinguished scientists, researchers, and students from across from Pakistan to discuss groundbreaking advancements in physics and its multidisciplinary applications.
Air University Multan Campus Director Dr Ghulam Ali inaugurated the event as chief guest.
Conference organisers highlighted the central theme, emphasizing the transformative role of physics in driving innovation and addressing global challenges.
The conference would open new horizons for academic and research excellence at Emerson University Multan. Islamia University of Bahawalpur’s Dr Kamran explored synthetic milk production and the role of pH levels in its development. Dr Aleem Ashraf provided a compelling analysis of the intersection of biotechnology and forensic science, while Malik Shafqat Abbas offered profound insights into wave function solutions and Schrödinger theory in quantum mechanics.
The two-day conference is designed to foster intellectual exchange and networking among researchers, scientists, and students. Activities include poster presentations, interactive sessions, and panel discussions, providing a platform for exploring innovative ideas and collaborating on cutting-edge research projects.
