A college student had to have her jaw wired shut and live on a liquid diet after the popular jawbreaker candy lived up to its name, fracturing her jaw in two places.

Canadian student Javeria Wasim, 19, tried to bite through a three-inch jawbreaker candy instead of licking it until reaching the middle where there is a gumball sweet. However, when she only dented the candy, she felt a sharp pain in her jaw and discovered a chipped tooth and a wiggly tooth. An X-ray revealed she had fractured her mandible in two places.

She underwent surgery to have her jaw set and wired shut for six weeks, followed by braces to fix her teeth.

A young woman in China suffered second-degree burns after attempting the viral hot water freezing trick in -20°C weather.

Jiang Nu grabbed an electric kettle full of hot water, stepped out into the cold, and had her friend record her, as she flung the kettle in a circular pattern in order to get the desired effect. But the hot water didn’t freeze, instead, some of it landed on her exposed head. In a clip that has since gone viral in China, Jiang can be seen falling to the ground in pain right after the water lands on her head.

After treatment, she tried the trick again with a hood for protection, but still failed to achieve the frozen vapour effect. The trick requires temperatures closer to -30°C to work properly.
