LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed the authorities concerned to improve and rehabilitate the previous 23 housing schemes of the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) in 19 districts and ordered release of funds for the purpose.
She was presiding over a meeting to review issues related to 3-marla free plot scheme, besides the provision of loans to people, who get the plots, for building houses here on Wednesday.
“There is a lot of concern about providing roofs [houses] to the homeless people. It gives me great pleasure to see people’s houses being built under ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ programme,” the CM said.
Earlier, PHATA director general gave a briefing about the progress made so far on ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ programme.
He said the repayment of loans under the programme had started. “The repayment rate of loans taken under the programme is 100 per cent.”
He said some 9,661 houses were nearing completion in Punjab under the programme.
