Fans may remember Jackie’s voice as Master Monkey in the popular Kung Fu Panda movies. He does not appear in the Jack Black dominated movie where a panda is doing Kung Fu, but here, Jackie Chan appears on screen, doing Kung Fu for the panda.
Directed and written by Zhang Luan, this Chinese action-comedy features Jackie Chan playing a version of himself — a film star with a big heart and a love for animals.
At 70 years old, Jackie Chan still has the charm, energy and fighting skills to lead an action movie. In the film, he decides to adopt a rare baby panda named Hu Hu. But things quickly go wrong when a group of bad guys tries to kidnap the panda. They’re chasing a big reward and will do anything to catch Hu Hu.
Jackie steps in to protect the little panda. Along with Hu Hu’s brave caretaker and his agent, he embarks on a wild and hilarious adventure. The trio must outsmart the bad guys, using clever tricks and, of course, Jackie’s famous kung fu moves.
There is some comedic fighting and some intense fighting, but Jackie Chan still finds his fans in this movie, who also help him out.
Panda Plan mixes sweet moments with exciting action, making it a fun movie for the whole family. Whether he’s dodging attacks or cracking jokes, Jackie still shines on screen. This time, he’s not just fighting for justice — he’s fighting for love, kindness and one adorable panda.
For younger viewers unfamiliar with Jackie Chan’s classic movies, this film serves as an excellent introduction. And for long-time fans, it’s a fun, light-hearted ride that brings back the Jackie we all love.
While Panda Plan may not be as big or bold as his older hits, it’s full of heart and humour. It’s a reminder that Jackie Chan is still a star — and now, he’s also a hero to pandas.
