MUZAFFARABAD: Two cabinet members in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have expressed their commitment to implementing Pakistan’s national cryptocurrency policy in the region to equip youth with opportunities in the evolving digital economy.
Speaking at a seminar on cryptocurrency held atMoon Creations School of Information Technologyin Muzaffarabad, Minister for Food Chaudhry Akbar Ibrahim and Minister for Forests Akmal Hussain Sargala said that the move would enable the region’s young population to engage with modern financial systems and access dignified employment avenues.
The event, which drew participation from students, professionals, and stakeholders, was also attended by Vice Chairman of the Press Foundation Sardar Zulfiqar Ali and former Central Press Club president Sohail Mughal.
The ministers maintained that regulating cryptocurrency within a transparent legal framework could create opportunities in investment, freelancing, and online earning. “The youth of AJK possess immense potential and are fully capable of becoming key players in the digital financial landscape,” said Mr Sargala.
On the occasion, Salahuddin Shah, CEO ofMoon Creations, announced the launch of formal cryptocurrency classes for the first time in AJK. He highlighted the institution’s efforts in technology education and skill development. Crypto experts Shabbir Ali Kiani and Asif Raza Mir delivered detailed briefings on blockchain technology, the benefits and global adoption of digital currencies, and associated risks.
They stressed that investment in crypto should only follow thorough education and training to ensure financial security. A question-and-answer session followed the seminar, during which students, traders, and financial experts shared concerns and suggestions regarding the future of crypto in the region.
The ministers assured participants that their input would be conveyed to the federal government to ensure that youth perspectives are reflected in future policymaking.
