LAHORE: Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) of Lahore and Multan on Wednesday announced the results for the 9th class first annual examination.
In Lahore, a total of 308,073 students sat for the exams held from March 25 to April 18. Of these, 138,894 were declared successful with a passing percentage of 45.08 percent. A significant performance gap was observed between female and male candidates, with girls achieving a notably higher pass rate of 53.87 percent compared to boys at 35.33 percent. Students enrolled in the science group performed better collectively, with a 47.47 percent pass rate, while those in the humanities group had a pass rate of 37.37 percent.
The results also highlighted a considerable difference between regular and private candidates, with regular students achieving a 52.17 percent pass rate against 33.39 percent for private candidates.
Pakistan Studies, Persian, and Tailoring saw a 100 percent pass rate, though with very few candidates. Core subjects like mathematics and chemistry proved challenging, with pass rates of 62.29 and 60.93 percent respectively, while Urdu compulsory and translation of the Holy Quran remained high-scoring subjects.
Lahore BISE Secretary Rizwab Nazeer and Controller Tauseef Rehman jointly announced the results.
In Multan, Commissioner and Multan BISE Chairman Aamir Karim Khan announced the results of the 9th class first annual examinations. He uploaded the results online by pressing a button on a laptop.
A total of 144,582 students appeared in the examinations, out of which 52.11 percent were declared successful. Commissioner Khan congratulated the successful students and said that hard work and dedication were the real keys to success.
Multan BISE Secretary Khurram Qureshi along with other officials were also present on the occasion.
Both boards have announced that re-checking applications can be submitted online within 15 days, and successful candidates may cancel their results for readmission within 30 days under certain conditions.
