DADU: A man and his nephew were electrocuted and three others injured after receiving electric shocks from high-voltage wires passing over residential houses in Borari town near Kakar town in Dadu district.

The bodies remained lying on the spot with 11000 KV wires for several hours, which caused panic among the locals.

According to rescue officials, the victims have been identified as 10-year-old Shahzeb, son of Shehzad Junejo, and his 25-year-old uncle Muhammad Aslam, son of Andal Junejo.

In the same incident, one Rehman Junejo and two women were injured due to electric shocks. They were shifted to the DHQ Hospital K.N.Shah, where doctors described their condition as critical.

Local residents reported that high-voltage electricity wires were hanging dangerously over more than 50 houses in Borari town. Complaints were made repeatedly to Wapda, but the authorities allegedly ignored the issue, the said.

Following the incident, the area plunged into mourning, with emotional scenes among the affected families. The heirs staged a protest against Wapda’s alleged negligence. The angry residents and relatives blocked the Indus Highway in a sit-in, disrupting the vehicular traffic.

The protesters have demanded immediate action to remove hazardous electricity wires to prevent further loss of life.

“Several times, the villagers requested to Wapda officials of K.N. Shah and Dadu for removing 11000KV wires, but no one took notice and the incident occurred,” said one of the protesters, Ahmed Ali Junejo.

He said that if the issue was not addressed, more people would fall victim to the wires, said Ashiq Hussain Junejo, a resident of Borari town.

“No official from Wapda or the administration of K.N. Shah or the elected representatives visited the affected families,” said Mashooq Ali Junejo, another local resident.
