TOBA TEK SINGH: Two underage motorcyclists died and another biker was injured after the two bikes collided head on and a tractor trolley ran over both of them near the grain market on Rajana Road in Kamalia on Thursday.
Rescue 1122 said the deceased, Muzzam Ali (13) and Rana Muhammad Anas (15), were residents of the Fatehpur locality and were on their way to the city. Their bike collided with another bike coming from the opposite direction.
It said that after they fell on the road, a tractor trolley coming from behind ran over them. As a result, Anas died instantly while Muzzam succumbed to his wounds at the Kamalia THQ Hospital. It said that the other injured biker, Muhammad Yamin (36) of Chak 321 JB Seowal, was shifted to the Kamalia THQ Hospital.
Meanwhile, a couple died after their motorcycle was rear ended by a speeding car on the Jhang-Multan Road near Kot Dewan on Wednesday night at Shorkot. They were identified as Anwar Ali (40) and his wife Shahida Parveen (35).
BOXING COMPETITION: The Pakistan Army Sports Directorate, Pakistan Boxing Federation and the Divisional Sports Department jointly organised an inter-district boxing competition for the National Boxing Talent Hunt at the Kaleem Shaheed Indoor Sports Complex in Faisalabad on Thursday.
A total of 52 male and 28 female boxers participated in the event. Faisalabad won the first position, Toba Tek Singh remained second and Jhang secured the third position.
Development and Finance Director Asif Chauhan, Sports officers Manzar Shah Farid and Rizwan Mehboob, Punjab Boxing Association Joint Secretary Zubair Rashid and Punjab Boxing Team Coach Haji Muhammad Rafi encouraged the players.
Pakistan Boxing Federation President Nasir Ijaz Tang and Secretary General Major Irfan Younis termed it an excellent event.
KASHMIR DAY: A photo exhibition and rally were organised on the Kashmir Solidarity Day under the auspices of the Punjab Council of Arts in Faisalabad on Thursday.
The exhibition presented visual glimpses of the atrocities committed by the Indian forces on the people of occupied Kashmir to make the youth aware of the Indian atrocities. Speakers emphasised that the exploitation of the people of Kashmir should be stopped.
Punjab Council of Arts Director Maqbool Ahmed Malik, Assistant Director (Programmes) Asad Hayat, Assistant Director Zahra, students, social figures and scores of citizens were present.
Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar, while inaugurating the bicycle rally organised at the Chenab Club Chowk, said that the purpose of the rally was to express solidarity with the Kashmiris and that sportspersons were also participating in the freedom struggle of Kashmiris. DC Nadeem Nasir was also present.
ARRESTED: A proclaimed offender wanted for the murders of six brothers had been arrested from UAE 17 years after the incident.
Police spokesperson claimed on Thursday that accused Shahid Mahmood was wanted for the murders that took place near Chak 21 JB in Sahianwala, Chak Jhumra in 2009. He said a team of Red Notice Cell headed by inspector Asim Zulfiqar arrested the accused through Interpol from UAE. He said that head money of Rs200,000 had been fixed for the arrested accused.
