LAKKI MARWAT: The police have tightened security at the Darra Tang and Wanda Mir Alam border points with Punjab after the Tuesday’s suicide attack near the Dajal checkpost located on the border of Bhakkar and Dera Ismail Khan districts.

A police official said here on Wednesday that special security-related instructions had been issued to the policemen deployed at the both border checkposts.

He said that the in-charge officers had been directed to review security arrangements in view of the current law and order situation and security threats. He said that the cops were sensitised to the implementation of the standard operating procedures in letter and spirit.

District police officer Nazir Khan also visited the border checkposts on Wednesday to check adherence to the security guidelines by the policemen.

He met the law enforcement personnel and asked them to remain fully alert. He said that strict vigilance by police would help thwart terrorists’ malicious designs of targeting the police installations or carrying out subversive acts in the surrounding areas.

He asked the law enforcers to keep an eye on movement of suspects.

He directed the cops to improve checking mechanism, making it more effective and tightened.

Meanwhile, the Bannu police’s Counter-Terrorism Department has registered a case against eight terrorists for the Monday’s quadcopter strike on the hujra of Marwat-Bittani Qaumi Tehreek (MBQT) leader in the Bakhmal Ahmadzai area of the district.

MBQT chairman Inamullah Khan has nominated Ateeq alias Tipugul, Inamullah alias Lamba, Safiullah, Zakir, Hamza Ali, Amir Jan and their two unknown accomplices in the FIR for carrying out the aerial strike.

According to the FIR, the terrorists have been charged under relevant sections of Pakistan Penal Code, Explosive Substance Act and Anti-Terrorism Act.

On Feb 23, a quadcopter dropped explosives on the hujra of the leader but no loss of life occurred. At the time of the strike, around 20 people were present in the hujra, but all of them remained unhurt in the attack.
