ISLAMABAD: In a high-level administrative shuffle, the federal government has appointed Mr Muhammad Wisal Fakhar Sultan as the new Inspector General (IG) of the Pakistan Railways Police (PRP).

The official notification, issued by the Establishment Division on March 25, 2026, states that Mr Sultan, a BS-21 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), has been transferred from his current position. Prior to this appointment, he was serving in the National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) under the Ministry of Communications.

The transfer has been carried out under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973, and is effective immediately. The notification, signed by Deputy Secretary Mahmoodul Hassan, has been circulated to all relevant departments, including the Prime Minister’s Office, the President’s Secretariat, and the Provincial Police Officers (PPOs) of all four provinces.
