MARDAN: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Senator Zeeshan Khanzada Khan along with other party leaders strongly condemned what they described as government negligence in providing medical treatment to former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife.
They expressed these views while addressing a press conference held at Mardan Press Club here on Friday regarding the rally scheduled for April 19. PTI District President Ayaz Safi, Shahid Anwar and members of the media committee were also present on the occasion.
They demanded that both be given full medical facilities under the supervision of their family doctors. The PTI leaders stated that the April-19 rally in Mardan was being organised to send a global message that the people of the country stood with Imran Khan.
They claimed that hundreds of thousands of people from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and other regions would participate in the gathering.
During the press conference, senator Zeeshan Khanzada Khan also claimed that Chief Minister Suhail Afridi would unveil a multi-billion-rupee development package for Mardan.
This package includes the upgradation of Mardan Medical Complex, establishment of kidney and burn centres, expansion of emergency and ICU facilities, completion of the District Headquarters Hospital, establishment of a medical university and construction of underpasses and flyovers to address traffic issues.
PTI leaders emphasised that the party was patriotic and peace-loving one and that Imran Khan had directed the postponement of the Liaquat Bagh rally in view of national and international circumstances and the arrival of foreign guests.
According to them on Imran Khan’s instructions it was decided to hold a major rally in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, therefore, Mardan was selected as the venue.
They further stated that the rally to be held at Mardan Railway Station on April 19 would be successful and clearly suggest that the public stood with Imran Khan in the past and would continue to support PTI in the future.
They added that imprisonment could not distance Imran Khan from the people. The leaders also criticised the 26th and 27th constitutional amendments, saying those have weakened the judiciary.
