TOBA TEK SINGH: A Jaranwala City police sub inspector (SI) has been booked for releasing a murder case accused instead of shifting him to the central jail on the orders of the additional district and sessions judge (AD&SJ).

According to details, SI Junaid Afzal released murder accused Muhammad Ahmad Kharal one and a half months ago when the AD&SJ directed him to shift him to the Faisalabad Central Jail on Feb 27.

This was revealed on Saturday when the concerned AD&SJ took notice after the under arrest accused was not produced before his court despite repeated orders. He then ordered a report from the jail superintendent, who informed that accused Muhammad Ahmad Kharal was not in jail. After checking the record, it was revealed that accused SI Junaid had set Ahmad Kharal free after accepting a bribe.

On court orders, police booked SI Junaid Afzal on Saturday evening and raids were underway to arrest him. CPO Sahibzada Bilal Umar also suspended the SI with immediate effect.

She was critically injured and Rescue 1122 shifted her to the Kamalia THQ hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
