MANSEHRA: The police on Tuesday arrested a TikToker for allegedly filming women shoppers in the markets and uploading indecent videos on the platform.

“We have arrested a TikToker, identified as Baidar Riaz, as he filmed women shoppers, and then uploaded videos on the platform,” according to a statement issued by the police’s media wing.

The police have also arrested several social media influencers in the past for uploading videos brandishing arms.

Former district police officer Shafiullah Khan Gandapur, who is now posted in Haripur, had initiated the crackdown on social media influencers for making immoral and anti-state videos, arresting several of them.

Cricket tournament: The final match of the inter-district cricket tournament was held at the picturesque Abaseen Cricket Ground along the Indus River in Judbah, the district headquarters of Torghar, on Tuesday, attracting a large crowd.

Rubnawaz Yusufzai, an organiser of the tournament, told reporters that 32 teams from Torghar, Shangla and Battagram districts participated in the event, which was organised on a self-help basis.

He added that two players each from other parts of the Hazara and Malakand divisions also played in the 32 teams.

“The final was played between teams from Battagram and Shangla, with the former winning the trophy along with a cash prize of Rs100,000,” he said.

“The objective behind holding the tournament is to engage youth in healthy activities,” he added.

Crackdown: The Upper and Lower Kohistan administrations have launched a crackdown on timber smugglers.

Speaking at a meeting at his office on Tuesday, Upper Kohistan deputy commissioner Azizullah Jan said that those involved in deforestation would be brought to justice.

The district police officer, divisional forest officers, and representatives of other departments attended the meeting, which finalised a strategy to effectively tackle deforestation and timber smuggling. Mr Jan warned forest department officials of punitive action if they were found involved in facilitating timber smuggling or illegal tree cutting anywhere in the district.

Dasu assistant commissioner Gul Faraz Khan visited forest offices and the Zaidkhar checkpoint along the Karakoram Highway, and directed that all vehicles, including passenger vans, should be thoroughly checked to curb timber smuggling.
