ISLAMABAD: Human rights lawyer Imaan Zainab Mazari-Hazir and her husband, Hadi Ali Chattha, have submitted additional documents to the Supreme Court of Pakistan, bringing them on record ahead of Tuesday’s (today) hearing on their plea seeking to set aside the Islamabad High Court order denying interim relief in the controversial social media posts case.
In December 2025, Imaan Mazari and her husband moved the Supreme Court to overturn the IHC’s decision refusing interim relief in the case. The petition argued that the high court had “erroneously and illegally refused” to exercise its discretion to grant ad-interim relief by staying the criminal trial, contending that recording evidence before the trial court in their absence violated Section 353 of the CrPC as well as their due process and fair trial rights under Article 10A of the Constitution.
The additional documents, submitted by their counsel Faisal Siddiqi on Monday, include charge sheets issued on different dates, the petitioners’ statements before trial court and related court orders.
The petitioners requested the Supreme Court to place the documents on record in the interest of justice, arguing that they were “essential and relevant for adjudication of the present case”.
According to the application, the documents were unavailable at the time the appeals were filed because the IHC office had not prepared the paper books, while the trial record was obtained later.
A three-judge Supreme Court bench, headed by Justice Shahid Waheed and comprising Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui, is scheduled to hear the appeals on Tuesday (today).
