GUJRAT: Three suspects were killed and as many others were injured in separate encounters in various areas with the Crime Control Department (CCD) and the police.

A spokesperson for the Gujranwala Police claimed that in one encounter with a Garjaakh Police team, a suspect was killed by the firing of his own three accomplices.

The deceased was identified as Ahmed Qaiser, who was wanted in a case of encounter with the Gujrat CCD besides other cases of robbery. He further claimed that his accomplices managed to flee the scene.

In another such encounter with the Kamoke Saddar Police, a suspect identified as Sufyan was shot dead by the ‘firing of his own accomplices’ after they allegedly opened fire on a police party. The spokesperson claimed the deceased was wanted in a number of cases of drug peddling, motorbike lifting and others.

Separately, he said suspect Rawal Akram, wanted in cases of robbery, was injured after he tried to flee at a police picket in Kamoke city, whereas suspect Haris was captured in an injured condition while attempting to escape a police picket in Gujranwala’s Civil Lines police precinct.

Meanwhile in Gujrat, a suspect wanted in cattle lifting cases had been arrested in an injured condition after he allegedly fled from police custody.

Police claimed that his accomplices opened fire at the police party in the Jalalpur Jattan Saddar Police precinct on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for the Gujrat Police said that four armed suspects riding on two motorbikes opened fire at a police party near the Jalalpur Jattan town and got suspect Adnan Shahbaz freed from the police custody.

However, he claimed the police continued to chase the fleeing suspects and later found the suspect, who had escaped the police custody, near Thimka village. He claimed the arrested suspect was found in an injured condition after he sustained bullet injury by the firing of his own accomplices.

Police shifted the injured suspect to the hospital for treatment and started investigation into the matter.

TOBA TEK SINGH: An alleged robber was killed in an encounter with the Faisalabad Airport Police late on Monday night.

Police claimed that a police team was bringing back an arrested outlaw, identified as Muhammad Naveed, after recovering looted valuables when his accomplices attacked the police van to free him.

Police claimed that fire was returned in self-defense and when the firing stopped, police found the suspect injured by the bullets fired by his accomplices.

Later, the police claimed that he succumbed to his injuries on the spot, while the attackers managed to flee in the darkness of the night.
