PESHAWAR: An elderly woman, whose son was murdered in Peshawar’s Tehkal Payan area in October 2024, has appealed to the capital city police officer (CCPO), Dr Mian Saeed Ahmad, to provide protection to her family.

She alleged that the accused were pressuring the family to enter into a reconciliation agreement. Besides, they were also attempting to occupy their property, she added.

Addressing a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club, 70-year-old Bibi Ayesha, mother of the deceased Fazal Manan, said her 40-year-old son was killed on October 20, 2024. She alleged that the accused in the murder case, identified as Gul Khan, Noor Khan, Saleem Khan and Zar Khan, sons of the late Hashim Khan, had made the family’s life “miserable.”

She claimed that armed men had repeatedly attacked their residence, damaged security cameras installed outside the house to destroy evidence and were intimidating the family to force them into signing a compromise agreement.

Bibi Ayesha further alleged that the accused were attempting to seize the family’s property and stopping her only surviving son, Farz Subhan, son of Abdul Razzaq, from cultivating the agricultural land leased from the Government of Pakistan.

She said the murder trial had already commenced and alleged that the accused were trying to obstruct the judicial process by threatening the family and preventing them from pursuing the case.

Appealing to the CCPO and senior police officials, Bibi Ayesha said she wanted to continue the legal proceedings and obtain justice for her slain son. She urged the police to ensure her family’s safety, take action against those allegedly involved in intimidation and illegal attempts to occupy their property and allow the court proceedings to continue without interference.
