ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday declared Alee­ma Khan and Uzma Khan, sisters of PTI founder Imran Khan, as proclaimed offenders and issued perpetual arrest warrants after they repeatedly failed to appear before the court in a case related to October 4 protest.

ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra passed the order during the hearing of the case registered at Kohsar Police Station.

When the case was taken up, neither Aleema Khan nor Uzma Khan appeared before the court despite having been summoned.

The prosecution informed the court that the process for declaring the accused as absconders has been completed in accordance with the law.

Police submitted a compliance report stating that the proclamation proceedings have been carried out and the accused have failed to surrender before the court within the stipulated period.

After examining the police report, Judge Sipra declared both sisters of the former prime minister as proclaimed offenders and issued perpetual arrest warrants to ensure their appearance before the court.

The court also directed the investigating authorities to submit details of the movable and immovable properties owned by Aleema and Uzma Khan, a step that could pave the way for attachment proceedings under relevant provisions of the law if they continue to evade arrest.

The case pertains to an Oct 4, 2024 protest and it was registered against Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan and other accused. The matter was adjourned for further proceedings and compliance with the court’s directions.
