KARACHI: Police on Monday submitted a final charge sheet against Amnol alias Pinky in two cases, including those involving drugs and an illegal weapon, registered at the Garden police station.
The alleged drug baroness was arrested in May after police claimed to have recovered drugs and an illegal weapon from her during a raid on a flat in the Garden area.
However, a day after her arrest, during her production before a court, a video of her went viral showing her being “escorted to court without handcuffs”. After the controversy, police obtained her physical remand in the two main cases, and also got her custody in more than a dozen previous cases in which she had been declared a proclaimed offender or absconder.
Speaking to Dawn, state prosecutor Abdul Rehman Thaheem confirmed that police had submitted the final charge sheets in the two cases, adding that the concerned magistrate would soon initiate proclamation proceedings against the absconding suspects in the cases.
On Monday, the police submitted the final challan before the court and placed five suspects — Amnol, her brother Zeeshan, Sohail, and her facilitators Sameer and Aqib — in custody to face trial. They were charged with offences under the relevant provisions of the Sindh Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 2024.
While the IO also placed three suspects — Humaira, Sabra and Aina — in Column-II with red ink and two suspects — Hamza and Aizaz — have been placed in Column-II with blue ink as their whereabouts were not known. The IO also listed the names of 18 prosecution witnesses in the final challan.
Earlier in the interim challan, the IO stated that during the investigation, it was revealed that the prime suspect had learnt to make narcotic substances (cocaine) from her ex-husband, Rana Nasir. After their separation, she allegedly established her own drug trafficking network in posh areas, as well as among university and school students and at parties, through her accomplices.
Regarding the modus operandi, the IO had claimed that the prime suspect used online platforms, including WhatsApp, to traffic drugs. If buyers needed drugs, they would contact Pinky through WhatsApp, and she would ask them to transfer the payment to the bank accounts of her accomplice Zeeshan and Sohail. After the transaction was completed, Zeeshan would share the screenshot with Pinky for confirmation.
Meanwhile, the IO also stated that Pinky allegedly used to sell cocaine in boxes labelled with her name.
On Aug 13, a sessions court had acquitted her in three drug-related cases in which she was earlier declared an absconder after allowing her three separate applications filed under Section 265-K.
