SARGODHA: A man allegedly shot at and killed his sister in the name of honour in Sargodha.

According to police, the victim, Sonia Bibi, was shot at and injured near Chak No. 15-NB. She succumbed to her injuries while being taken to hospital.

Police said the suspect identified as Afaq allegedly suspected his sister’s character and, along with an accomplice, opened fire on her. She sustained bullet wounds to her shoulders and died on way to hospital.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to arrest the suspects.

FLOUR SHORTAGE: The shortage of 10kg flour bags has triggered a sharp increase in the price of loose flour in Sargodha, with rates rising by Rs30 to Rs40 per kilogram across the city.

The price hike has sparked concern among citizens, who criticised the food department and the district administration for failing to ensure adequate supplies and control prices.

Mill owners had reportedly raised the issue several months ago, demanding the release of wheat against outstanding payments owed by the Punjab government. They said former caretaker chief minister Mohsin Naqvi had directed the supply of flour under a government scheme, but flour mills in Sargodha district had yet to receive their outstanding payments despite repeated demands.

The district administration has claimed that sufficient flour is available at various government-established stalls. However, citizens and millers allege that these arrangements have failed to provide relief to consumers.
