GWADAR: Police registered a case on Monday against the Jamaat-i-Islami’s Balochistan emir over alleged “negative and provocative remarks” against security agencies.

According to a police official, an FIR was lodged on the complaint of a local resident, Fida Rind, against Maulana Hidayatur Rehman after a video showed him criticising the installation of a camera at a security checkpoint on the Gwadar-Pishukan Road and the purported use of the system to identify women. The complainant alleged that the JI emir had stopped his vehicle near the checkpoint and criticised security agencies, using “inappropriate language”.

He alleged that the remarks could “create resentment among the public, encourage confrontation” and undermine law and order.

Police registered the FIR under Sections 353, 186, 503, 504, 505, 506 and 505(1) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
