DC unveils a new Wonder Woman

DC Comics has revealed a striking new version of Wonder Woman in Superman #40, giving the iconic heroine a dramatic redesign featuring an eye patch, military-style gear and twin firearms.

The issue centres on a metafictional battle between Superboy-Prime and Manchester Black, who attempts to escape the comic-book world into the real one. During the clash, alternate timelines are created, including one that introduces this fierce new version of Diana.

The redesign hints at a darker future for the Amazon warrior and marks another bold reimagining of the character in DC’s ongoing multiverse stories.

Godzilla meets War of the Worlds

IDW Publishing has announced Godzilla’s Monsterpiece Theatre Presents: Roar of the Worlds #1, a new one-shot comic arriving this August. Written and illustrated by Kyle Baker.

The comic reimagines H.G. Wells’ classic The War of the Worlds, revealing what was happening in Japan while Martians invaded England. As the alien forces launch their attack, Godzilla becomes humanity’s last hope, battling the Martians and protecting Japan from destruction.

The issue also features the next chapter of Robin Hood and the Monster of Nottingham, and is part of IDW’s Monsterpiece Theatre anthology, which places the King of the Monsters into famous works of classic literature.

The original Venom duo returns

Marvel Comics has announced a new ongoing Venom series, launching on October 14, with writer Charles Soule and artist Tommaso Bianchi.

The comic reunites Eddie Brock with the Venom symbiote after years apart, as Eddie sets out to become the symbiote’s greatest host and prove he can be a true hero despite opposition from other superheroes.

The series follows recent storylines in which Eddie was bonded to Carnage while Venom teamed up with Mary Jane Watson, finally bringing the iconic duo back together for a fresh chapter of action, battles and symbiote adventures.
